The Hare and The Tortoise Fable, Stained Glass Window Panel
Slow and Steady Wins the Race
This one-of-a-kind handmade stained glass window panel brings Aesop's beloved fable to life in glorious jewel-toned colour. The tortoise inches triumphantly past the finish sign while the sleepy hare scrambles to catch up — a timeless story told in light and glass.
The craft
Handcrafted using the same techniques as traditional church windows, this panel is painted with enamels and oxides, then kiln fired — making the imagery permanent and enduring. The leaded and cemented construction means it can hang as a stunning artwork or be glazed directly into a door or window frame.
Created by UK artist Clare Maryan Green BA Hons using traditional leaded glass methods passed down through centuries of stained glass making.
Versatile by design
Currently fitted with hanging hooks for display as a wall or window artwork. If you'd like it installed as a glazed window panel in a door or window, simply get in touch — Clare can remove the hooks so it's ready to glaze.
